The rim is designed with a 40 mm deep and 26 mm wide NACA profile, specifically designed for allrounder performance on flat or hilly terrain. The new rim bottom shape makes it easier than ever to fit tubeless and tubular tyres. UST Tubeless means no tubes, so no friction, and more air volume means a smoother ride. The result is a faster ride with very low rolling resistance.
The improved spokes make this wheel 80g lighter than its predecessor, the Cosmic Pro Carbon UST. Combined with our brand new Infinity hub platform, which makes them faster and more responsive in every turn, they are stiffer and more efficient.
The Cosmic SL 40 is designed specifically for rim brakes. Our proven iTgMax technology includes a patented laser treatment of the braking track that reduces braking distance in both dry and wet conditions, while a special lamination and heat treatment process makes it the strongest and most durable of all carbon rims for rim brakes. They are available for Shimano cassettes and are convertible to Campagnolo and SRAM XD-R with optional steering bodies.
These wheels are designed, engineered and patented by Mavic in Annecy, France, and are 100% handmade in our European carbon factory.

iTgMAX carbon clincher technology for rim brakes
Integral Glass Transition Temperature The iTgMAX technology is a 100% carbon rim base made of several unbroken layers of carbon fibre to create a one-piece rim without cutting the carbon fibre. The braking band is then laser-machined to ensure maximum braking efficiency.
QRM Auto bearing technology
Quality Mavic Auto bearings. These cartridge bearings are naturally double sealed, with C3 internal clearance. The system automatically adjusts to ensure perfect rotation without play in the long term.
Instant Drive 360 freewheel system
The new Instant Drive 360 freewheel system is ultra-light and efficient. A non-contacting, oversized rubber seal minimises friction and a wide choice of adapters makes it compatible with a wide range of frames and axles.
Tubeless UST technology

Isopulse lacing
