CARBON WITH UD TRAMA
Unidirectional carbon fibers are mostly used in Syncros. These exhibit higher tensile strength and elastic modulus than the various woven carbon weaves (tensile strength is the amount of force required to cause the fibers to break, while elastic modulus is a measure of the stiffness of the carbon fibers). They are then set up to get the best out of them (along their fiber length) and achieve stiffness (or flexibility) where needed.
The internal sheet graphs are different depending on the way they are placed (0°, +- 45°, 90°), and this gives the possibility of creating very light carbon products.
Braided 3k patterns (i.e., 3000 filaments per bundle) are used only in very specific areas, such as around holes, where delamination could be critical.
