Black Chili Compound
The rolling properties of a tyre's rubber mix are mainly determined by three factors that interact with each other: rolling resistance and mileage. The dilemma: if you improve one of these factors, you can have a negative effect on at least one of the others. A tire with maximum grip consumes faster and rolls slower. If you then make a tire faster and more durable, the grip is reduced in turn.
With our Black Chili mix, a tread mix always based on the latest knowledge of polymers and raw material research, we have provided the cycling industry a lasting solution. Depending on the application of a tire, we adapt the formulation of the mix to the specific discipline: on the road or mountain bike, for chronometer or downhill races.
How does it work? For Black Chili we refine special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to obtain high performance tread blends. To these mixtures we then add particles of soot, in turn optimized in shape and surface properties.
Vectran Breaker
VectranTM is spun by a liquid crystal polymer. This creates a multi-wire thermoplastic yarn. To make a comparison: This partially crystalline fabric is more resistant to aramide cutting and its tensile strength is five times higher than steel. A VectranTM puzzle is lighter, more flexible and more effective against cuts than a comparable nylon puzzle. Without affecting rolling resistance.
