AERODYNAMICS
THE NEW CC.01
The Colnago Cockpit CC.01 has a reduced aerodynamic resistance surface of up to 16% compared to the cockpits mounted on the V3R, and at the same time the shape was designed as a NACA derivation profile to have the slightest impact on the air flow, which is laminated and cleaned while impacting on the components. This aerodynamic evolution has been achieved without reducing the overall rigidity of the cabin, which is as important as the aerodynamics during sprint and acceleration.
AERODINAMICAL DATA
The performance of the V4R is that of an aerodynamic bicycle.
Compared to V3R, in a real race configuration (headed in the wind tunnel with an athlete pedaling 50 km/h with 1 bottle and an empty bottle holder) we measured an aerodynamic savings of 3%, corresponding to approximately 13,2 watts. With an advanced aerodynamic configuration (aerodynamic wheels and Colnago Computer aerodynamic support) the bicycle had an aerodynamic saving of 6% (about 27.7 watts saved).
THE TEST SHALL BE CARRIED OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE MANUFACTURER
Its shape has been revised and perfectly integrated with the new light fork (designed to allow an effective space for tyres up to 32 mm) and with the new cockpit. Although the upper bearings of the steering group are larger than those of the V3R, allowing the cables to flow inside without the need of the D-slot and improving the overall stability of the avantrene, the overall shape has a better resistance.
RIGIDITY
ACCURATED MISURATION
We have created internal methods to replicate the load forces of standing positions on pedals and sitting, and verify the overall deformation and stiffness of the frame. We were therefore able to define what we call RDS (Real-Dynamic Stiffness) and to characterize it in combined multiple load conditions.
SITTING POSITION
In sitting position, the loads are applied only on the same plane of the front triangle to reproduce the all-round guide: Taking the V3Rs as a reference value, the V4Rs is more rigid than 5% on this occasion.
SPRINT POSITION
In the sprint position a combination of loads is applied both on the handlebar and on the central movement, with both components placed on the front and normal triangle plane at the frame plane, in order to simulate flexional and torsional stresses in correspondence of oscillating cambre. Having as a reference value the V3Rs, the V4Rs is more rigid than 4% in this particular position.
RACING FEEL
ROBUSTEZZ
The new V4Rs significantly improves shock resistance of the most exposed parts that can be subject to impact in race conditions. An example is given by the phosphors of the completely new conception saddle which, in addition to having a more aerodynamic shape, greatly improve the resistance to bending and impacts. The robustness of this design also minimizes the need for maintenance.
BETTER CONTROL OF FLIGHT
The weight distribution has changed compared to V3R. The front fork is now lighter and the overall weight of the frame + handlebar kit has decreased by 56 grams.
The result is a better handling in the curve and greater safety and precision in the descent.
BICICLETTA MONTAGGIO
The geometry has been revised to have even more balanced performance in all sizes than the V3Rs. For V4R the ratio between the length of the saddle tube and reach is almost linear, the stack / reach ratio has been optimized and harmonized between all sizes and the length of the sheath has been reduced. This geometry offers a better balance, better power transfer and the same feeling of race for all sizes.
MAIN COMPLESSIVE REGIDITY
This frame is more rigid than the V3R. You can sprint faster and climb more efficiently. We have developed a new test methodology to simulate and measure rigidity in a realistic and effective way.
IT'S BETTER THAN THAT
The V4R profiles have been revised to allow a reduction of aerodynamic resistance. The Colnago V4Rs, although not an aerobike, represents a significant leap forward compared to the V3Rs, based on its performance in the wind tunnel.
CENTRAL MOVEMENT T47
The central T47 movement - of the same size as the C68 - is oversize, to allow better reactivity of the bicycle and easier replacement than the previous Colnago standard.
