With the E-Grifn, go further, longer and higher than ever. We chose the Mahle X20 driving unit for its very natural driving sensation.

A distinctive feature of this e-bike is the choice of the Mahle X20 driving unit. It is a compact and proven system that makes the impossible possible. The assistance is proportional to the force applied on the pedals, obtained through the use of a torque sensor in the central movement that communicates with the software. You have the feeling of pedaling always with a pleasant breeze behind you, making every trip a sports company.

An advantage of the X20 engine is that it works practically without additional mechanical resistance beyond the limit of 25 kilometers per hour. The power delivery of the system gradually decreases, ensuring a very smooth driving experience. This also contributes to the natural feeling on the bike. In addition, you can control the engine with your smartphone through the Mahle app and customize it according to your preferences. The system also fits your driving style. With Mahle X20, you have three levels of assistance specifically adapted for Grifn by our product managers in collaboration with Mahle. This 'custom mapping' is a typical example of our eternal search for perfection.

The geometry of the E-Grifn is identical to that of the Grifn RS, with removable front derailleur clamp, tire space up to 42 mm and support for UDH derailleur. The battery is elegantly integrated in the frame, maintaining the sports aspect of the E-Grifn.

TECHNOLOGIES

Custom mapping
With the Mahle X20, you have three levels of bike assistance, specially designed for E-Grifn by our product managers in collaboration with Mahle. We chose to determine these levels ourselves instead of opting for standard settings, leading different test sessions with different types of cyclists to find the three ideal levels. This custom mapping exemplifies our eternal search for perfection. Switching between the different levels of assistance can be done through the satellite buttons on the handlebar or through the controller on the upper tube, which visually displays the battery capacity and the level of assistance. The system is compatible with ANT+, allowing the battery status, support level and personal power to be available for other ANT+ compatible devices.

The Mahle X20 drive is a compact and proven system that makes the impossible possible. It is important to note that the system only provides energy when riding, thus keeping the feeling of riding a bicycle with a slight breeze behind it. In addition, the X20 engine works virtually without additional mechanical resistance beyond the limit of 25 kilometers per hour, ensuring a smooth driving experience. In summary, Mahle is identified with three pillars: lightness, sportyness and intelligence!

Mahle batteries with the largest capacity (350 Wh)
For the E-Grifn, Ridley opted for the battery with the largest capacity (350 Wh), with the possibility to extend it further with a 171 Wh battery extender that replaces a bottle holder. Based on data from Mahle users, engineers know that 350 Wh battery is enough for most trips in this off-road segment. The battery can be charged to 80% in 2 hours and completely in 3.5 hours. Cleanly integrated in the frame, the battery gives the appearance of a sports bike the additional support of an electric bicycle.

Optimized tire clearance
For the E-Grifn, Ridley opt for a slightly larger tyre space than the Grifn. With 42mm, they usually offer a sufficient capacity to manage a variety of gravel obstacles. This maintains a balance between speed and agility on one side, and comfort and stability on the other. Of course, on the road, you can easily change wheels or tires if necessary.

All-road geometry
The geometry of the Ridley Grifn is the superb overlap of a rigid racing frame and a tolerant off-road chassis! The goal is a reactive and agile driving sensation while maintaining a stable handling on off-road terrain. The angle of the Grifn steering tube is slightly flater than the angle of the steering tube of a road bicycle. Compared to a gravel bicycle, the angle of the steering tube is more pronounced. This involves a completely new geometry, specially designed for the all-road segment. Classified cyclists too Ridley were consulted and provided positive feedback on this bicycle for each terrain.

UDH Hanger
The universal derailleur gearbox (UDH) is the new standard in cycling. Not only is this derailleur compatible with all modern exchange groups, it also protects against the break of the derailleur and the fall of the chain. In the world of mountain biking, the UDH has long been widespread and Ridley is also bringing this technology into other segments.
